The One Thing

“When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be.” ~ Lao Tzu

In the book The One Thing, co-written by Gary Keller founder of the Keller Williams real estate empire, he writes that multitasking is a lie. Even though it has become mainstream and popular to say, the truth is “to do two things at once is to do neither” writes Pubilius Syrus. Williams goes on to write in his book that doing too many things at once distracts us from being successful at that one thing.  When we try to do too much at once, we end up doing nothing well.

You must figure out what matters most now and give it your undivided attention.

My dude, Darren Hardy talked about it on his Darren daily just this morning.  The secret, or not so secret to the success of people like Oprah, Richard Branson, Steve Harvey, Michael Jordan and others, across every segment of life is that they gave up on trying to do a lot of different things and instead, focused on one thing.

Darren Hardy who is probably the foremost Success expert in the country, says that many of the people we hold up as successful at their one thing are on the opposite end of the spectrum for most everything else.  He uses himself as an example.

Ask him to change the oil in a car or fix something around the house is probably not a great idea.  However, because he is great at that one thing, he can pay someone to do what he is not good at.

If you want to be super successful, great at something, dent the universe, be world class at something, give up trying to master all things.

If you desire to be great, and if you are reading this I hope you do.

Figure out what that one thing is and dream, visualize, use your imagination to subconsciously plant the seed for what you want. Then set goals on what you need to do to become great at that one thing.
