A Time for Every Season

Boyz II Men – 4 Seasons of Loneliness

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:

A time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.

This is a favorite passage of mine from the Old Testament (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8).  I have come to understand that even when I want something to happen (or not), God has a plan and a season for everything while we are here on earth.  Scripture makes it clear that even when we wish, hope or pray- God is still in control.

Wow…indeed our season’s change; my youngest daughter starts her senior year of college next week, my middle daughter returned to her home in southern California after visiting us last weekend, and the eldest is wrapping up her and my grandbaby’s second summer in Japan.

I recently refreshed a friendship with a guy I have not seen in over twelve years and have not talked to in over ten.  Even after so much time, our season of partnering to do God’s work is now.  Life is full of so many seasons.
