Attitude – Yes You Can

In the children’s story The Little Engine That Could the train could not make it up the hill until it started repeating “I think I can, I think I can”. Attitude is a key ingredient of success. Attitudes directly influence behaviors and the corresponding results. Attitudes affect whether individuals behave in ways that benefit the entire organization or in ways that serve only to protect their individual interest.

Some experts tell us that as much as 95% of the basic attitudes we carry with us through life were formed by the age of five. Despite the fact that most of us were loved and nurtured as small children, we were nevertheless exposed to so much negativity in our earliest years that there is subsequently a large dose of it embedded in our attitudes by the time we grow to adulthood.

In order to combat our early conditioning and to deal with rapid life changes we need a process that will sustain itself, one that will keep you in the I CAN or WE CAN rather the I CAN’T or WE CAN’T, mode.
