BHAG

Big Hairy Audacious Goal (A strategic business statement that is an audacious 10-to-30-year goal to progress towards an envisioned future.)

Everyone should have a personal BHAG in front of them.  A BHAG is a BIG, HAIRY, AUDACUIOUS, GOAL, and although life is better by having and achieving a BHAG, it is easier said than done.  I recommend these steps for laying out and achieving a BHAG.

  • You need imagination.

Albert Einstein said that imagination is the preview for life’s coming attraction.  How many people believe this to the point that they sit and allow their mind to conjure up things that they want in their life.

  • Positivity is key.

A recent Gallup Poll estimates that 22 million workers are negative in the United States and it is costing $300 billion in productivity. The law of attraction says the more we focus on something, good or bad, the more it shows up in our world.

  • Get up after being knocked down.

Life will always knock us down, the key is to get back up.  We fail only when we stop trying not when we fall.

  • It is never too late.

Abraham Lincoln, who was said to suffer from depression was able to overcome several elections defeats, two bankruptcies, a nervous breakdown, and the death of his fiancée before becoming President of the United States.  A seeming failure at the age of 51, he had summoned the courage and strength that unified the country and changed the course of history.
