Character Still Matters

“God’s love created blacks and whites for each other in community. White supremacy is the sin that separated them in America”― MLK

As God-fearing human beings, I guess it is our nature to rate sin and lean heavily against things that seem to promote or allow that sin to exist. The thing that we judge is what we rank higher than others.

I could easily make an argument that racism, white supremacy, the very thing that separates God’s people, in church and the community is the most grievous sin. I could then argue that anyone who stokes racism helps grow the cords of white supremacy, especially if they are in a position of power, are committing the biggest sin against God and the church.

We know God forgives all sin, except for sinning against the holy spirit. (Matthew 12:32)

America’s question in a little over a week comes down to how we see what we think is the worst sin.

“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law, he meditates day and night.” (Psalms 1:1-2)
