Great athletes’ recipe for success is simple but not necessarily easy. It starts with talent and hard work but when you examine these two different thoughts closer what are we really talking about? As I have said many times before all great performers, whether it is on the football field, basketball court or softball diamond have their reservoir of blood sweat and tears built from hours and hours of hard work. But was that work built from the ground up or inside out? Did he or she have a good conditioning and stretching program, did he or she do any injury prevention, strength building work? Lastly, did they do any mental strengthening or mindset work? Whether it be conditioning, injury prevention or mental strengthening the missing ingredient will show up at some point for every athlete in every season.
